I began using drugs at a young age, and I have battled with addiction and mental illness throughout the years. I am proud to say that I graduated from the country's oldest sober school (P.E.A.S.E Academy - Peers Enjoying A Sober Education). On Christmas of 2020, I will have 8 years clean. I left my abuser. I now recognize that substance abuse and other forms of abuse (like domestic violence) are, in fact, the very same cycle --- just substitute a drug for a person, or vice-versa. I've since found peace and joy in my life. ARCS has taught me so much about myself and how to better communicate. After years of learning to love myself (and a little bit of luck), I found the man of my dreams and recently got married! I am truly grateful for the opportunity to help others work through their issues, to find the happiness I have. |
