ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS:  "SPEAKING OF ARCS"

It is often noted that "addiction is a progressive disease", meaning that its symptoms and consequences worsen, over time.  However, it's less commonly stated but even more important to recognize that recovery from addiction is also progressive in its character... It gets both easier and more fulfilling, over time.

Recovery from addiction is progressive... It gets easier and more fulfilling, over time.

You might expect that we would track such a path to wellness with a graph of steady incline, much like stock prices going up, but we who are on the front lines of the battle against addiction know from experience that this would be a misleading and inaccurate representation.  Rather, the road to wholeness would best be marked by the classic bell curve, or "arc-shaped" graph.  "Why?", you might ask.  This does, indeed, seem strange and counter-intuitive, since the the earliest days of recovery are surely the toughest.

Yes, the earliest phases of recovery, such as detox and treatment are the most difficult... but they are NOT the most vulnerable!  In effect, addicts thrive when things are tough.  It's when the chaos calms that addicts are left flopping about like a fish out of water, and returning to using can seem like a good way to ease the anxiety that comes from newly-found serenity, by recreating that more familiar sense of angst.  In the beginning of recovery, addicts are highly motivated, for the remembrance of undesired consequences is fresh.  It is after a few months of abstinence, that commitment can easily be supplanted by arrogance and complacency.

ARCS facilitates customized program placement.  In other words, throughout every phase of the rehabilitation process, we can either provide the services to meet your specific needs, or refer you to a program that can.  And, this includes specialized needs for specialized populations.  For example, if you are looking for (1) a women's program, (2) that accepts pregnant women, (3) with a specialization in treating both substance addiction and eating disorders... We can find that, for you.  Or, perhaps, you are looking for an (1) adolescent program, (2) for boys, (3) with a focus on concurrent GED completion.  We have that, too.

We stay with you through the entire recovery journey, so that you continue getting just as much attention during the more vulnerable phases as you did during your first call for help.  For instance, most laypersons (and, even, some professionals) are unaware of the fact that a move from standard 28-day treatment to viable transitional living is an infinitely more precarious time than initial enrollment in treatment.

We offer case management and coordination services which are unparalleled in the addiction counseling field.  In fact, if we have never heard of the particular type of program which you are seeking, we will research it.  If we cannot find it, we will work with you to develop it.  Often, we can create a customized recovery program that works in relation to the entire family, in conjunction with local resources and at a fraction of the cost of inpatient treatment.

There's a lot in a name.   We can structure an arc of services, that will sustain and fortify recovery from behavioral and substance addiction.
