Graduates will also not be eligible to teach the ARCS program from outside of the United States, or to prospective clients and students who live outside of the United States.

As a CARC, will I be able to take insurance?
No. What many counseling clients do not know is that, whenever you see a professional who takes insurance, the rule of confidentiality does NOT extend to the insurance companies. In fact, counselors who receive insurance reimbursements must report everything you say, to these large corporations --- along with, a formal diagnosis that remains on your public record.
The counseling field is currently divided between practitioners who accept insurance payments, and those who opt to decline them on moral and ethical grounds. At ARCS, while we feel grateful that counselors are available to clients in insurance-backed practices, we have sided on the philisophical principle that accepting insurance payments poses a conflict of interest to our clients. Most of our clients agree, when we explain how insurance companies can often operate against their personal right to self-determination and their best individual interests.
If you wish to work in a practice or facility that is government (i.e. state, federal) or corporate (i.e. insurance companies, privatized services) sponsored, it is best that you take the more conventional route of acquiring a Masters and/or PhD degree, coupled with state-licensure.
Many of our students pursue CARC certification while they are also in the process of attending university, so that they can enter the private coaching field sooner.

Can I get a job in a large treatment or other facility, with my CARC Certification?
Many of our students have acquired positions such as "treatment tech" or "assessment-intake counselor", even prior to graduating, just by telling organizations about all of the information and skills that they are learning through the ARCS program. However, most of our students utilize these positions as a self-designed "internship", while they complete their studies, because they prefer both the scheduling and financial freedom available to them through private coaching, after they attain their certification.

Is this program right for me?
It likely depends upon what your aspirations are.
If you can envision yourself in your own private coaching practice, seeing clients online, over the phone and/or in person --- then, the ARCS Coaching Certification Program is a "good fit", for you. Essentially, it will allow you to do the same thing that Masters and PhD-level clinicians are able to do, but with substantially less time and expense.
However, if you wish to work in a large facility that is government (i.e. state, federal) or corporate (i.e. insurance companies, privatized services) sponsored, it is probably best that you take the more conventional route of acquiring a Masters and/or PhD degree, coupled with state-licensure.

Why can't I start coaching, immediately?
ARCS certifies and places Masters and PhD-level clinicians, immediately; however, it is only professionally responsible and ethical that we provide comprehensive training to those who wish to coach but have no former or formal education in the counseling field. In fact, ARCS used to only certify Masters and PhD-level practitioners, who are seeking additional specialization in treating addiction and correlated trauma.
When the clients of our Masters and PhD-level counselors began requesting that we develop a program for them to also become certified, we listened!
