Our Story
ARCS started 1997, as a small counseling office. One of our founders was technically inclined, in the advent of the internet age, so the practice quickly burgeouned into the comprehensive resource that it is, today --- proffering counseling, coaching, intervention, case management, and both national and international program placements for addicts, trauma survivors and their family members.
As ARCS grew beyond the bounds of what its three original therapists could handle, our founders decided to "help the helpers", by developing a Certification Program specifically for Masters and PhD-level counselors seeking additional training and specialization in addiction and co-related trauma. The ARCS Student Curriculum teaches participants how to overcome addiction and PTSD symptoms through revolutionary self-actualization:
- Rewire debilitating emotional patterns.
- Stop unwanted behavior patterns.
- Cultivate internal security and loyalty.
- Choose supportive relationships.
- Practice healthy boundaries.
- Unlock intuition.
- Source creativity.
Over the course of the ensuing decades, ARCS received repeated requests from the clients of their Certified Therapists. These clients had journeyed through the comprehensive ARCS Curriculum and, now, wished to teach it.
ARCS strives to be responsive to the needs of their clients; thus, in 2015, our administrative team set about the endeavor of adapting our Coaching Certification Program for non-licensed survivors who feel that they have a gift and calling to help others. Now, participants can venture through our Coaching Certification Program as both clients and students, simultaneously.
Coaching Program participants attend online group classes led by one of our Certified Coaches, for a minimum of 30 minutes each week. These group classes are a meld of academic and experiential learning --- that often feel more like a support group than a traditional classroom --- in which students share their stories with one another and garner life-sustaining emotional and relationship skills from their professor.
While attending weekly online classes, Certification Program participants independently access our ARCS Student Portal to work through the curriculum video-workbook lessons, at their own pace. Just some of the topics covered in ARCS online video-workbook lessons are:
- The Cycle of Addiction
- The Disease Concept of Addiction
- Relapse Prevention
- Various Models of Addiction & Emotinoal Recovery
- The Most Sustainable Models for Change
- Healing Behavioral Addiction
- The Role of Personal Faith in the Healing Process
- Developmental Stages
- PTSD Theory
- Overcoming Trauma
- Effectively Responding to Emotions
- Practicing Boundaries
- Acquiring Healthy Relationships
- Accessing Internal Awareness
- Enhancing Personal Security
- Building Self-Esteem
- Developing Internal Loyalty
- Cultivating Innerconnectivity
- Coaching Practice Techniques
- Coaching Practice Ethics
Today, ARCS has Certified Coaches in every state. Many of them are addicts and abuse-trauma survivors who have transcended their difficulties and, now, enjoy a purposeful life of helping others to heal and become whole.
